The introduction of the first Seiko Speedtimer in 1969 was a milestone in the history of chronographs. It was one of the world's first automatic chronographs and was powered by the Caliber 6139 mechanism, whose accuracy in time measurement marked a substantial development in the history of automatic wristwatches. Since the creation of the first Speedtimer, Seiko has placed emphasis on manufacturing detail to ensure maximum timekeeping accuracy. The seconds hand extends to the tachymeter indications on the dial periphery. The minute sub-dial and corresponding minute hand are bright red to ensure easy and direct reading. The date indicator is placed between indicators so that the time is always visible. The classic design and the special texture of the bracelet give the watches of the series a timeless but at the same time sporty style.
